How To Recreate The Viral Jump-Out-Of-Your-Phone Trend Using The Edits App 📱✨

Ever wondered how creators make it look like they're literally jumping out of their phone screen? Good news - it's easier than you think, and you can recreate this effect using just your phone and the Edits app.

One jumping video, one photo of your phone, and a couple of keyframes do all the work.

The illusion comes from layering a background-removed clip of you jumping on top of a photo of your own gallery, then using keyframes to scale you up as if you're growing out of the screen. Here's the full build.
Step 1

Film Your Jump

Film a video of yourself from above - position your camera at a high angle, looking down at you, and record yourself doing a little jump.
Tip
Make sure your entire body stays in frame, and leave enough space around yourself so it's easier to remove the background later.
Step 2

Take A Photo Of Your Phone

Take a photo of your phone with your photo gallery open on the screen. This becomes the background for your final video, making it look like you're jumping straight out of your gallery.
Step 3

Open The Edits App

Open the Edits app and create a new project. Add the photo of your phone as your background, then import your jumping video and add it as a layer on top.
Step 4

Remove The Background

Select your jumping video layer and use the Background Remover tool - this removes everything around you, leaving just your body. Position yourself over the phone screen so it looks like you're standing inside your gallery.
Step 5

Make Yourself Jump Out Of The Screen

This is where the magic happens. Select your video layer and use keyframes (anchor points) to create the zooming effect: at the beginning of your video, shrink yourself so you fit inside the phone screen and add your first keyframe. Move toward the end of your jumping clip, add a second keyframe, and enlarge your video layer so your body appears to jump toward the camera and out of the phone. When you play it back, you'll grow from inside the phone screen into the foreground.
Step 6

Preview And Export

Play your video back and adjust your keyframes until the jump feels smooth and natural. Once you're happy, export your video and share it as an Instagram Reel.
Something to note
Two keyframes are doing the whole effect.

Everything before this is just getting clean footage - the illusion itself lives entirely in how you place those two keyframes. Smaller at the start, bigger at the end, and the jump feels real.
Real Talk

Trends are one of the ways you can increase your visibility to your target audience.

You do not need to jump on each and everyone of them, but once you find one that aligns with your content style and audience, be sure to jump on it fast to grab the attention of your ideal customer.
