6 Algorithm-Friendly Caption Prompts To Boost Reach Like Crazy
The mistake most people make with captions is asking every post to do everything: gain followers, generate comments, drive sales, earn saves, and go viral. A stronger approach is to give each post one primary job. These six prompts help you turn one post into six caption options, each written around a different audience action that can support reach.
The best caption is not the one with the most calls to action. It is the one that makes one next action feel obvious.
Use the prompts below with the post itself, your niche, and the audience you want to attract. Meta’s ranking signals change over time, so treat this order as a practical testing framework - not a guaranteed formula. Test the result against your own Insights, especially Skip rate, Shares, Likes, Saves, Reposts, and Comments.
Option 1
Write For Skip Rate
The opening words have to earn the next second. On a Reel, much of the caption is hidden until someone chooses to expand it, so start with a specific tension, surprising claim, mistake, or promise. Then keep the reader moving with short lines and a clear payoff at the end.
Prompt — Skip-rate caption
Analyze the uploaded post or Reel and write 3 caption options for my [NICHE] aimed at [IDEAL AUDIENCE]. The primary goal is to reduce the number of people who skip and make the right viewer tap to read more. For each option: begin with a sharp first line of no more than 8 words; create curiosity without clickbait; use short, easy-to-scan paragraphs; build anticipation through the caption; reveal the useful point or payoff near the end; and finish with one natural sentence that tells the reader what to do next. Do not use vague openings, exaggerated promises, or more than one call to action. The post is about [DESCRIBE POST].
Option 2
Write For Share Rate
People share content when it helps them say something they could not quite phrase themselves, or when it is useful for someone they know. Make the share prompt specific and relevant rather than adding a generic “share this.”
Prompt — Share-rate caption
Analyze the uploaded post and write 3 captions for my [NICHE] and [IDEAL AUDIENCE]. The primary goal is to encourage meaningful shares. Identify the type of person who would benefit from this post and make the caption naturally invite the reader to send it to that person, tag a friend, or share it with someone who needs to hear it. Include a useful insight before the call to action so the request does not feel forced. Keep the tone [TONE]. Avoid guilt, pressure, and generic phrases. The post is about [DESCRIBE POST].
Option 3
Write For Like Rate
A like is a low-effort signal, so ask for it only when the reader has an immediate reason to respond: agreement, recognition, encouragement, or interest in seeing more of the same type of content.
Prompt — Like-rate caption
Analyze the uploaded post and write 3 captions for [NICHE] followers. The primary goal is to make the right viewer want to like the post. Create an emotional or practical connection in the first few lines, then add one low-pressure call to action such as asking them to tap the heart if they agree, relate, or want more posts on this topic. Make the request feel earned by the content, not manipulative. Do not add requests to comment, save, share, and buy. The post is about [DESCRIBE POST].
Option 4
Write For Save Rate
Saves are most natural when the post is useful later: a checklist, process, reminder, list of ideas, or explanation someone may need when they take action. Tell the reader exactly why saving it will help.
Prompt — Save-rate caption
Analyze the uploaded post and write 3 captions for my [NICHE]. The primary goal is to encourage saves because this content will be useful later. Explain the practical value clearly, make the information easy to revisit, and finish with one specific save prompt such as “save this before you [TASK].” Do not ask for likes, comments, shares, or sales in the same caption. Keep the copy concise, concrete, and genuinely useful. The post is about [DESCRIBE POST].
Option 5
Write For Repost Rate
A repost gives someone a reason to put your content in front of their own audience. This works best when the idea is timely, identity-based, or useful enough that the reader wants to publicly associate themselves with it.
Prompt — Repost-rate caption
Analyze the uploaded post and write 3 captions for [NICHE] creators and [IDEAL AUDIENCE]. The primary goal is to encourage relevant reposts. Explain what belief, lesson, or reminder the post represents, then invite readers to repost it if they want their followers to know about [IDEA]. Keep the tone confident and non-pressuring. Do not make unsupported claims or use engagement bait. The post is about [DESCRIBE POST].
Option 6
Write For Comment Rate
The easiest comment prompts usually win: one word, one choice, an emoji, a number, or a feeling people can identify immediately. Avoid asking your audience to write an essay when a simple response will start the conversation.
Prompt — Comment-rate caption
Analyze the uploaded post and write 3 captions for my [NICHE] and [IDEAL AUDIENCE]. The primary goal is to encourage easy, genuine comments. End each option with one simple question that can be answered with one word, one number, a choice between two options, or an emoji. Make the question directly connected to the post and easy to answer without extra thought. Do not ask multiple questions or request a long personal story. The post is about [DESCRIBE POST].
One post, one priority
You can still track other outcomes, but choose one primary metric before publishing. After 24–72 hours, compare the result with similar posts and keep the caption patterns that attract the right people-not merely the biggest number.
Real Talk
Reach Improves When You Stop Asking Every Post To Be Everything.
A caption cannot rescue an unclear idea or irrelevant content. But once the post has a clear purpose, the right caption can make the next action easier - and that consistency gives you better data to build from.
